While the modern medical care for patients at Bolton Hospice is of the highest order, we find that many patients also benefit from other, traditional therapies to promote a feeling of wellbeing and reduce stress.

Reflexology is based on ancient principles and uses massage in all areas of the feet to balance the body's energies, reducing stress and inducing relaxation.

Aromatherapy is a gentle massage using natural essential oils which are selected individually. The oils can enhance body, mind and spirit and can help to relieve stress and insomnia.

Reiki involves the transfer of natural energy through one person to another as the therapist places their hands gently over the body. It is harmless, does not require faith or belief and there is no need to undress to receive the therapy.

Indian Head Massage
is applied to the head, neck, shoulders, face and scalp. It can be very successful in soothing stress and often gives a psychological uplift.
It isn't for everyone however, and consultation with the therapist is advised.

Stress-busting sessions for carers
We invite all carers for patients at Bolton Hospice to come along. The sessions will help you learn how to relax, how to keep healthy while caring and give you an opportunity to chat about issues of importance to carers. We also offer relaxation and therapy.
