Hospice at Home Appeal
In January 2012, the start of Bolton Hospice’s 20th anniversary year, we launched an appeal with The Bolton News to raise additional funds to allow us to care for more patients at home through our Hospice at Home nursing service.
Many people who are seriously ill and nearing the end of their lives prefer to be cared for at home surrounded by their family and friends. Our Hospice at Home service works closely with District Nurses, GPs and Macmillan nurses to help make this possible.
More information about the Hospice at Home service and referral process can be found here.

In the past year, we have seen an increasing demand for people requesting the services of our Hospice at Home team and currently the team is working to capacity and above.
Currently a maximum of 7 patients are visited per day covering a wide range of nursing interventions and support. Increased resources would enable the service to take on more patients to meet current demand and extend nursing hours beyond 8.30am – 4.30pm into the evening.
If the service remains within its current set up many patients may be denied the input of Hospice at Home services, which could infringe on the additional support available to patients and families and influence bereavement.
Our Hospice at Home Appeal aims to raise £110,000 in 2012 to expand the current service and ensure that we can meet patients’ demand for the service. Any funds raised over and above the £110,000 appeal target may be used to provide other hospice services.
