Inpatient Unit
Bolton Hospice has 14 single rooms for those who need care within the Hospice. Our accommodation is comfortable, friendly and more informal than a hospital ward, while providing clinical care of a high standard.
Who needs admission?
Those whose medical problems are not responding to care at home.
Those who need a period of assessment or rehabilitation.
Those who may be reaching the end of life and are unable to remain at home.
Who will provide care?
Our inpatients are under the medical care of one of two Consultants, with day-to-day care provided by other members of the medical team.
24-hour medical care is provided by a rota of Hospice doctors available on call.
Nursing care is provided day and night by our team of nurses.
Our clinical team is supported by a number of other team members including physiotherapists, social workers, chaplains, housekeepers and cooks.
How long do patients stay with us?
The majority of patients stay with us for about two weeks for assessment and adjustment of drugs.
The Hospice does not provide long term care.
What are the visiting arrangements?
We welcome visitors at any time within reason. There are no strict rules about numbers of visitors, although it is important to remember that large numbers of visitors can be tiring for patients, and the needs of other patients should also be respected.
Can visitors stay overnight?
We can arrange accommodation for close family members who need to stay in the Hospice overnight due to a patient's condition.
