Bolton Hospice

Wills Week W/C 20 March 2006

Help to secure the future for your loved ones and local people, with your Will.

Bolton Hospice has been established since March 1992.  Since that time it has gained a reputation for the very high standard of care offered to local people and their families.

As there is no charge to any of our patients and we only have partial support from government sources (35%), the generosity of the public we serve is absolutely crucial to our survival.  The cost of running Bolton Hospice is currently over £2 million per year, we therefore rely heavily on the generosity of the people of Bolton, who we serve, to enable us to continue our work in offering vital specialist care for local people with life limiting illness and their families.

The Value of a Legacy

Every week in Britain a staggering number of people are diagnosed with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

Sadly it is clear to see that for many years to come there will be an increasing number of patients and their families who will need the care and support which Bolton Hospice gives free of charge.

This is why, just as a Will brings security to your family's future, a legacy to Bolton Hospice will help secure the future care of our patients. Every legacy is a promise - a promise that the Hospice will always be there to help their patients and families come to terms with their illness and, with tailored care providing pain relief and symptom control, assist them to live as fulfilling a life as possible, for as long as possible

Legacies are a vital source of funding for The Hospice.  They enable us to continue to provide comprehensive specialist care for local people, to offer support to them, their families and carers.  Expert care that is individual to the patient, detailed and sensitive.

There are three ways to leave a legacy to us and help provide care to our patients and their families at this difficult time.

A pecuniary bequest - a gift of a fixed sum of money

A residuary bequest - what is left of an estate once family and friends and other beneficiaries have been provided for

Or

The gift maybe a part of the residuary estate e.g. a half or a quarter.

A message for Wills Week from Debra Graham, Director of Fundraising:

"Making a Will is something people often put off for various reasons.  But we all know it makes sense to put our affairs in order to give us piece of mind for our loved ones for the future.  We hope that, by highlighting Wills Week, we will prompt people to do just that and hopefully to also think of supporting Bolton Hospice too, so we can be reassured about our future existence".
