Light up a Life

It is with great sadness that we have had to make the decision not to hold our annual Light Up a Life services at the parish church and the hospice due to the social distancing restrictions that are currently in place. We will be offering an alternative to our traditional services this year, and we do hope that you join us for a special virtual Light Up a Life at Home service. Our virtual service will carry the spirit of our traditional services, and will include beautiful performances from local choirs, traditional carols, readings, and a reflective moment of silence as we remember loved ones no longer with us.

On Wednesday 16th December at 7pm get together with your family and join our service from the comfort of your own home, knowing that you will be joining families all across Bolton as we remember our loved ones this Christmas time. Special Light up a Life at Home candles will also be available for you to purchase from our fundraising department at Giles House during the months of November and December so you can light a candle for your loved one during the virtual service.

Bolton Hospice have been on the front line of the pandemic response, providing the very best care and support for the patients and families who need us during these testing times. You may be aware we had to temporarily close our charity shops and café, and our fundraising events remain cancelled or postponed for the foreseeable future. The impact of the crisis on our income remains worrying and we are facing an uncertain road ahead.

We need your help, now more than ever, to help us support families in Bolton with life-limiting illnesses this Christmas.

To take part in this year’s Light up a Life at Home appeal and help to support the hospice this Christmas, please make your donation and dedicate your light at

Each donation will be acknowledged with a personalised Light up a Life card and this year your loved one's name will appear in a special Light Up a Life edition of the Bolton News on 16th December 2020.
