Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine
We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic doctor to work across all our Hospice services initially on a six month contract; however, there may be opportunity for extension.
This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with a special interest in palliative medicine. Working as part of our multi-disciplinary team, responsible for the safe and effective medical care of patients referred to Bolton Hospice services, which include Inpatients, Day Therapy, Outpatient clinics and medical support of the Hospice at Home nursing team.
Fixed Term Contract, initially 6 months
Full Time 37.5 hours per week
(part time considered, minimum 3 days per week)
(doctors also participate in on-call rota 1:5 evenings, 1:6 weekends)
£41,158 - £55,237 per annum pro rata
(depending upon experience, plus enhancements for weekend on-call)
With other members of the medical team, the post holder will take responsibility for the day to day management of ward patients, including initial assessments, management, planning and daily review. The role requires supportive communication with patients and their carers regarding their illness and its management as well as provision of telephone advice to hospital and primary care colleagues.
What you need:
We are looking for an experienced doctor with significant post-registration experience of specialties relevant to palliative care, along with full GMC registration. You must have the appropriate level of clinical knowledge and skills, as well as the ability to make sound clinical decisions. An interest in palliative medicine and a commitment to the aims, philosophy and values of the hospice are essential. The successful candidate will also need to have excellent communication skills. Advanced communication skills training would be desirable.
