Complementary Therapy

Alongside the medical and nursing care we provide for our patients, we also offer a range of complementary therapies which may help promote a feeling of well-being and reduce stress. Carers may also be invited to have a short course of complementary therapy.

Relax in our purpose built therapy rooms, decorated to a high standard with relaxation in mind and suitable for both male and female patients. Following a full assessment, a short course (usually 4 sessions) of therapies are offered.

The therapies offered are:

  • Reflexology which is based on ancient principles and uses massage in all areas of the feet to balance the body's energies, reducing stress and inducing relaxation
  • Aromatherapy which is a gentle massage using individually selected natural essential oils. The oils may enhance body, mind and spirit and may help to relieve stress and insomnia
  • Reiki involves the therapist placing their hands gently over the body. It is harmless, does not require faith or belief and there is no need to undress to receive the therapy.
  • Indian Head Massage is applied to the head, neck, shoulders, face and scalp. It can be very successful in soothing stress and may give a psychological uplift.

Our therapists are happy to discuss any therapy with our patients, and make suitable recommendations. Consent is required prior to a session and you can stop the treatments at any time. These therapies are designed to complement your medical care (they do no replace treatment).
