Mother and Daughter make masks to support Bolton Hospice

Supporter Dawn and daughter Siobhan, have together been helping the hospice with their very own mask fundraiser as a thank you for the wonderful care our Hospice at Home team gave to Dawn's Mum who recently died.

Siobhan shared their story with us which we are so touched to be able to share with you too. Thank you to also to Dawn's workplace Stobira Ltd who have shown Dawn's fundraiser super support by allowing her to place our loose change box and her homemade masks in their showroom.

"At the start of lockdown my Nan came to live with us, she had vascular dementia and lung cancer. Obviously we couldn't do everything for her and we had some Bolton Hospice nurses come in to help. They were amazing with us and my Nan actually looked forward to their vists. She passed away four weeks after living with us.

We wanted to thank them for all they did while she was alive and the help and advice they gave us. We made a donation in my Nan's name but we wanted to do more. We put a small donation box in the Stobira show room with a box of ready made masks. Mum had been making masks for the elderly who had been unable to go out and get a mask so they could go shopping. When they asked how much mum asked for donations to Bolton Hospice instead."

This kind feedback means so much to all of us here at Bolton Hospice, and during these difficult times the incredible care and support provided by our Hospice at Home team is needed by local people and their families now more than ever.
