Anniversary charity run for dad

Matthew Smith has launched what he hopes will become an annual event in memory of his beloved father who was cared for by Bolton Hospice.
“Smithy’s Charity Trail Run became an idea after wanting to create an event that would not only raise money for Bolton Hospice in memory of my dad’s second year anniversary of him passing away. But to also try and inspire people to explore the local trail routes we have throughout the Bolton area. The race is designed to cater for all abilities from experienced trail runners to people who have never ran on trails before, I just want everyone to enjoy the race and then get together after for coffee and cake to celebrate raising money for a charity that is very close to mine and my families heart.
The chances are everyone in Bolton and the surrounding area will have a connection with Bolton Hospice, whether that is a relative or a friend of a friend. That is why I have created a free 5 week training plan and up loaded it to Smithy’s Charity Trail Run website www.smithyscharitytrailrun.co.uk so people who have a little experience or no running experience can follow the program should they wish to. People are more than welcome to walk the route as well.”
The trail run takes place on Saturday 9th February 2019 at 10.30am with a compulsory briefing at 10.20am at Egerton Cricket Club. You don't have to run, you can walk, hop, skip or jump your way round the course, just make sure you enjoy it!
There is also a FREE training plan available on the web site to guide you through your first trail run training, a medal and goodie bag for all finishers, plus hot drinks, cakes, changing facilities and a public bar at the finish.
Costs are £19 for affiliated runners and non-affiliated runners £21 with all proceeds going to Bolton Hospice.
