Running in memory of John
Published to Event News on Sep 06, 2017
John Bolton passed away in Bolton Hospice on 3rd July 2017 after being diagnosed with terminal cancer 7 weeks previously. His family will be taking part in the Bubble Rush on Sunday 17th September in his memory. They'll also be running in memory of their dad, granddad and husband who passed away peacefully at home a few years ago after receiving care from the
hospice at home team.
On what would have been John Bolton’s 62nd birthday on 14th August, the family held an emotional celebration of his life, “John loved red roses, so we bought 5 red rose bushes and planted them in separate tubs with his ashes. They will be lovingly cared for by his mum, sisters and nieces.”
“We cannot express how grateful we are to all the caring doctors, nurses and the day and night volunteers at Bolton Hospice. Their dedication to caring for John in his last weeks of life was remarkable. Not only did they care for John but they also looked after us as a family. Nothing was too much trouble. We will never ever forget and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
“We are currently busy fundraising on Facebook, knocking on doors, filling loose change boxes and saving the twenty pence pieces. We donate all our old items to the Bolton Hospice shop at Astley Bridge where incidentally our mother volunteers three to four times a week. We are aware that the government funding covers only a fraction of your costs so we hope our small fundraising efforts will help towards the bigger picture, allowing you to continue to provide the care and support to all your patients and families. Bless you all.”
