Nurse taking over Twitter!
Published to Hospice Stories on May 16, 2018
We have had an array of activities taking place over Dying Matters Awareness Week this week, and most exciting of all is Sister Lisa taking over or Twitter account during her shift tomorrow!
Lisa will be providing the Twitter community with an inside look at her role for a full day featuring everything from clinical meetings through to admitting patients onto the IPU.
Lisa hopes that this will provide supporters and the general public with an inside look into the daily running of a hospice and provide a better understanding of the care patients receive during their time here, as well as allow people to see the various other healthcare professionals in the hospice who together, provide expert holistic care to patients and families.
She said, “Many people think that the care in a hospice is not as specialist as the care provided in a hospital environment and I hope that the Twitter takeover will dispel this myth. Our team of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals are led by a specialist consultant in palliative care and we provide care to patients around the clock, every single day of the year. Every aspect of patient care is covered as well as support for families and carers and I hope I can provide a good insight to people of what happens on the inpatient unit on a typical day!”
Lisa is also hoping to answer any questions people may have about hospice care and is encouraging people to ask about the services and care available at Bolton Hospice - please follow @BoltonHospice on Twitter and tune in on Thursday to show Lisa your support!
