Community Spirit at Little Lever Shop

Irene Watson volunteered in our Little Lever shop since January 2001. Sadly, Irene recently passed away aged 94. Irene was one of our oldest volunteers and enjoyed raising money for a good cause, making new friends and loved the community village feel of our Little Lever shop.
Irene was a great ambassador for the hospice and also encouraged her daughter to volunteer after retirement too, she has now been volunteering at our Little Lever shop for over 11 years!
Joyce Ball, who was a long term friend paid her a fitting tribute: "I have fond memories of Irene Watson helping out at the Hospice Shop with me. Irene was a member of the Little Lever WI and six of us went on many holidays together in the UK and abroad . She sat with me at St. Matthew's Coffee Morning every Tuesday enjoying each others company and reminiscing. She was a good friend and she'll be sadly missed."
James Sproat volunteered along side Irene: "I had the privilege of working with Irene on Friday mornings along with Annie and Freda. Often we would lose track of time because it went so fast in such good company. She embraced change and took to the new Till much quicker than I did. She was always cheerful and made many friends over the years she volunteered at the shop. Even after she'd retired customers asked after her and sent their best wishes. A lovely lady who will be fondly remembered. "
The Bolton Hospice charity shop in Little Lever is a thriving community village shop with a fantastic friendly atmosphere. Customers regularly meet at the shop for a catch up, to pick up a unique bargain and to have a good rummage among the huge range of fantastic items for sale. It would be a fitting tribute to Irene and her family to continue to carry on the legacy of the Little Lever shop where she spent so much of her later years.
The shop is located at 110 High Street and is open 10am-4pm Monday – Friday and 10am-4pm on Saturday.
