Dying Matters Week 2018

Dying Matters Week 2018

Published to Other News on May 14, 2018

Dying Matters Awareness Week 2018 is taking place this week and Bolton Hospice are hosting various activities to contribute to this years theme of "What Can You Do? In your community."

Members of the hospice team have very kindly contributed to conversations highlighting tips and advice from their own bereavements to help people know what to say and do, as well as things which are not useful when someone has suffered a bereavement. Drawing on their real life experiences, we hope that they will allow you to better handle conversations with friends, relatives and neighbours in the event of a death. The main video of this feature can be viewed on our You Tube channel by clicking here and there will also be additional videos released throughout the week on our social media channels so please look out for those and feel free to add your own views and comments!

As well as this, we will be sharing tips, and a list of do's and dont's over the next few days on social media.

Also part of this week's theme is about how we can better communicate with children and young people who are going through a bereavement and our Education team are hosting two sessions for staff in local schools and nurseries on communication techniques when dealing with youth coping with a bereavement. There are more sessions taking place later in the year so please take a look at our education web page for details on this as the session does prove extremely beneficial to school staff.

Follow us on Twitter and Facebook to stay up to date with all Dying Matters Awareness activities and we hope that you find something useful!
