Light up a Life for Your Loved One
Published to Other News on Nov 13, 2017
Bolton Hospice invite you to take part in the special the Light up a Life appeal, a perfect time for family to get together and remember your loved one during the festive period.
Light up a Life is a lovely way to remember and celebrate the lives of those who won’t be here to share Christmas with us this year, but who remain in our thoughts and memories.
When you take part in the appeal, you’ll be able to write a personal dedication message and upload an image of your loved one to the Bolton Hospice Light up a Life night sky. Then, their star will shine brightly in the sky, for the whole festive period.
Andrea is dedicating a light to her dad, Andy. Andy died, aged 72, from prostate cancer in 2014 after being cared for at Bolton Hospice.
"We took part in the Light up a Life service at the hospice in December and found it very moving. It was a lovely service at a special time of year and the emotion felt when the candles were lit was palpable. I still light the candle at home every Christmas."
When you donate to the appeal, you’ll receive a commemorative card dedicated to your loved one and their name will be added to the Book of Remembrance at the hospice.
The remembrance services in December are open to everyone who has dedicated a light. This will be an opportunity to come together to remember and reflect on loved ones who are no longer with us.
This year the services will be held on:
- Wednesday 6th December at Bolton Parish Church at 7pm
- Wednesday 13th December at Bolton Hospice at 6.30pm
It will cost over £10,000 on Christmas Day alone to provide care at the hospice and out in the community by the Hospice At Home service. The Light up a Life appeal is an important way to raise funds for the hospice, we need to raise £3.4 million every year to continue our specialist care and support.
One of our dedicated nurses, Lata, has been here since the very first day and has been part of many Christmases at the hospice!
“For me Christmas is like any other day – I come into work and do everything I can to ensure my patients and their families are provided with the very best care and support. Just like at home, our catering team serves up the most delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, gifts are exchanged and patients and their families can enjoy a little tipple together! Christmas at the hospice is full of happiness, warmth and laughter. The most important thing for the families we care for at the hospice is being able to enjoy spending precious time together and making memories that will last a lifetime.”
To join the appeal, and dedicate a light to someone special please add your light to our night sky. Alternatively, for more information please contact Mark on 01204 663065.
