A message from Bolton Hospice CEO, Leigh Vallance

As the Coronavirus crisis continues to develop, I would like to take this opportunity to reach out to you and your loved ones, to reassure you that Bolton Hospice is continuing to support those most vulnerable in our community. We are doing everything we possibly can, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to continue caring for patients and their families living with life-limiting illnesses, and to make every day the very best it can be for our families.

As you may be aware, we have taken the decision to temporarily suspend our day therapy services and reshape our Hospice at Home service to ensure safe staffing levels for our inpatients with the most complex needs and those who are at end of life.

I am so proud of how our staff and volunteers are pulling together ensuring our patients and their wellbeing remain our utmost priority. We are working hard to keep everyone safe, by taking extra precautionary measures which you can read about here.

As the coronavirus takes its toll, the demand for our services is set to increase and we are facing challenging times ahead. As a local charity, we rely on the generosity and support of local people who fund the majority of our care. Yet, sadly, in light of the current situation, many of our planned fundraising events and activities cannot go ahead over the coming months, though we are looking to re-schedule where we can.

Our local community in Bolton has shown incredible solidarity in this crisis and it’s wonderful to see so many people offering to help and support each other at this difficult time. It’s the stories of local people joining forces to make sure our community is safe and cared for which help us to stay strong and remain positive. We can and will continue to make a difference to the local people who need us.

For us at Bolton Hospice, your community support is so important to us. We know that many of you are looking for ways to help and so please do continue to support in any way you can during these difficult times.

Thank you.
