Lindsay Hillyard, whose mother and son have both been helped by Bolton Hospice has been “giving back” with a double dose of fundraising.

Wild water swimmers raising money for Bolton Hospice

A GP in training and five friends have found a chilly but warmhearted way to raise funds for Bolton Hospice.

Dr Balaji Shanmugam, an anaesthetist currently undertaking training to become a GP at Pike View Medical Centre in Horwich, and a group of friends are taking part in a marathon wild water swim.

Tough Mudder fundraising success

Last month, a number of hardy fundraisers took to the infamous Tough Mudder course to raise much-needed funds for Bolton Hospice. Sara Ariff, HR Manager at the hospice, as well as a team of 22 friends, colleagues and family members, brought together by Chris Masingiri, took on the notoriously challenging obstacle course. 

£50 Challenge - the results

Over three months from April to June, a number of local businesses, organisations and individuals took part in our £50 Challenge, growing a £50 stake through innovative means to help raise much-needed funds for Bolton Hospice. 

Friends' 3 month fundraising trek

Two friends, Phil Stephenson and Mark Vanhegan, have walked an historic pilgrims’ route of over 1,500 miles in three months to raise more than £10,000 for Bolton Hospice.

URGENT APPEAL

The current cost of living crisis, high fuel and energy costs, and high inflation rates, combined with over 15 years of below inflation increases to our government NHS funding have placed a worrying, substantial financial burden on us.

Joanne's volunteer story

Joanne has volunteered with Bolton Hospice as a Bereavement Support Volunteer for just over 12 months. 

“As a Bereavement Support Volunteer I have one to one sessions with people who have lost loved ones and support them though the different stages of grief, ensuring a safe, confidential space for them to discuss their feelings and emotions.
