Roles available in our shops


All of our shops are different, with lots of different volunteer roles available! Whether you have a flair for fashion and fancy yourself on the shop floor, or can see yourself helping behind the scenes as a volunteer van driver, PAT tester or eBay administrator, we can't wait to welcome you to our shops team.

We Urgently Need Volunteers for the following roles:

Bury Road - Retail Assistants

As a retail assistant volunteer you’ll help run our Bury Road shop; sorting stock, replenishing the shop floor, marketing items and serving our loyal customers. No experience is necessary and training is provided!

Astley Bridge - Retail Assistants
Saturday and Sunday - AM or PM

As a retail assistant volunteer you’ll help run our Astley Bridge shop; sorting stock, replenishing the shop floor, marketing items and serving our loyal customers. No experience is necessary and training is provided!

The Old Bank Cafe - Cafe Assistant
Mon-Fri 9am-12.30pm or 12pm-3.30pm, Sat 9.30am-12.30pm or 12pm-3pm, Sun 10-1.30pm

At The Old Bank Cafe, volunteers will be serving customers, preparing food such as sandwiches, paninis and beverages and ensuring the cleanliness of the cafe. 

Chorley Old Road - Retail Assistants
Saturday AM or PM

As a retail assistant volunteer you’ll help run our Chorley Old Road shop; sorting stock, replenishing the shop floor, marketing items and serving our loyal customers. No experience is necessary and training is provided!

Furniture Plus - Retail Assistants
Saturday and Sunday - AM or PM

As a Furniture Plus volunteer you'll be helping on the shop floor, meeting and greeting our customers, and marketing and selling donated items.

Furniture Plus - Researcher and Retail Assistant
Thursday and Friday - AM or PM

As a research volunteer your role will be to help research donated items to find out more information. As a retail assistant you'll help with the sorting and selling of donated items.  

Newport Street - Retail Assistants
Monday - AM or PM

As a retail assistant volunteer you’ll help run our town centre charity shop; opening or closing the shop, sorting stock, replenishing the shop floor, marketing items and serving our loyal customers. No experience is necessary and training is provided!

PAT tester volunteer
Flexible Days/Hours

Based at Furniture Plus, our volunteer PAT testers help to test every electrical item for safety and function before they're sold in one of our shops.

Ebay Wrappers
Mondays / Wednesdays & Fridays

As an eBay wrapper volunteer, you'll help wrap sold items and package them up ready to ship to our customers! Hours are flexible, so if you love wrapping and could spare any time please get in touch! 

Ebay Listers at Furniture Plus

You'll be identifying online goods at the furniture plus shop to be listed on our eBay store and helping to prepare them for selling. An understanding of selling goods & buying on eBay would be an advantage but no experience is necessary!

Horwich Shop - Till Operative
Saturday 10am-1pm

As a till operative volunteer you’ll help with selling donated items to our loyal customers, and sorting stock on our shop floor. 

Westhoughton - Till Operative
Thursday and Friday AM 

As a till operative volunteer you’ll help with selling donated items to our loyal customers, and sorting stock on our shop floor. 

Farnworth Shop - Retail Assistant
Saturday AM or PM

As a retail assistant volunteer you’ll help run one of our charity shops; sorting stock, replenishing the shop floor, marketing items and serving our loyal customers. No experience is necessary and training is provided!

Tonge Moor Road - Till Operative
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - AM or PM

As a till operative volunteer you’ll help with selling donated items to our loyal customers, and sorting stock on our shop floor. 

Little Lever Shop - Retail Assistant
Saturday AM or PM

As a retail assistant volunteer you’ll help run one of our charity shops; sorting stock, replenishing the shop floor, marketing items and serving our loyal customers. No experience is necessary and training is provided!

As an eBay volunteer you’ll support our online eBay shop by logging donations to be sold online, researching goods, adding listings, and assisting with postage once sold. 

Van driver volunteer

Our volunteer van drivers and van drivers' mates collect donated items from across the borough of Bolton and deliver them back to our shops to be sold. 

The Old Bank Cafe volunteer

At The Old Bank Cafe, volunteers will be serving customers, preparing food such as sandwiches, paninis and beverages and ensuring the cleanliness of the cafe.
