Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse


Bolton Hospice’s consultant-led team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide expert care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. We not only take care of patients' physical needs, we consider their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. And we support families and close friends, both during illness and in bereavement.

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic band 6 sister with excellent communication skills, with good organisational skills, be passionate about excellence, have a strong teamwork ethic with a passion for palliative care.

Salary £35,392 - £42,618 WTE

Full or part time hours considered, minimum 0.8 WTE (30hrs)

The Role

As one of our Ward Sisters/Charge Nurses you will support the Service Lead, lead a team and manage the ward on a regular basis. The role is responsible for maintaining continuity of care to patients within the hospice, while at the same time providing leadership to staff and volunteers.

The successful post holder would work well with the Service Lead and Sisters to support the effective running of the ward, ensuring good communication and teamwork, and that the necessary support and supervision is provided for all team members.

As one of our Sisters/Charge Nurses you will be supported by the Service Lead and Head of Clinical Services while playing a key role in delivering safe, quality patient-focused care to clients and drive forward the highest standards of palliative care service provision. This post will appeal to an individual with the ability to deliver in all aspects of clinical care and staff management. 

As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will be a clinical role model and will need to have a willingness to develop the nursing team as well as working towards your professional growth. The successful post holder will conduct direct supervision and manage the daily service needs which includes planning and management of staff rotas.
