Café Assistant Manager
The Old Bank Café is situated next door to our thriving Astley Bridge retail store. It is a busy community hub, serving local customers whilst raising vital funds to support the running of the hospice, to allow us to provide expert care for local people when they need it most. Whether you want a cooked breakfast, a cup of coffee and a slice of cake, our café is the place to be. We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and passionate individual to assist the management and the smooth running of our café.
£17,508 per annum
Part time 27.5 hours per week
(shifts split over 7 day operation)

The Role:
Reporting to the Café Manager and working closely with a team of volunteers and other paid members of staff you will oversee the smooth running of the café on the manager’s days off and support the smooth running of the café whilst working with the the Café Manager. This will include assisting in the preparation of food and drink, serving customers and maintaining cleanliness standards in the Café by means of approved methods. A flexible and hands on approach to work is essential. The appointed Café Assistant Manager will be responsible for the provision of a high quality and efficient, customer orientated cafe services.
What you need:
This is a hands-on role involving preparing food and drink and serving customers, so you’ll need to be comfortable working in both a practical role and in a supervisory capacity. You’ll need to have experience in a similar environment and a level 2 food hygiene and safety certificate (although we will provide the training for this qualification if you don’t have it already), plus a commitment to providing excellent customer service. The successful candidate will also be able to supervise a team of committed team members, offering support and guidance, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and thrive in a busy environment.
