HR Officer (Initially 6 month Fixed Term contract)
Our team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide expert care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. We not only take care of patients' physical needs, we consider their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. And we support families and close friends, both during illness and in bereavement.
We are currently seeking to recruit a proactive and experienced HR Officer to expand our HR team, providing effective generalist support to both staff and managers across the organisation. The role is initially offered on a 6 month contract, although there is potential for a permanent post going forward. This could be a rewarding opportunity for a HR professional wishing to further expand their advisory skills and knowledge as part of a caring hospice team.
£22,549 - £24,882 per annum
Full Time 37.5hrs Monday to Friday
The Role
The HR Officer will work alongside the HR Manager and HR & Education Administrator to provide a high quality, comprehensive and effective generalist human resources service for Bolton Hospice. This is a vital role, supporting the HR Manager in the delivery of objectives and providing professional advice and support to both staff and managers across the organisation on all employment issues. This will include supporting managers through all stages of employment matters, providing advice and guidance to empower them to take responsibility for people management. The post holder will also be involved in all stages of the employee lifecycle, as well as assisting with policy development and project work.
What you need:
You must have substantial experience in an advisory role and be able to build positive relationships with staff at all levels, dealing with issues sensitively and confidentially. Excellent communication skills and strong IT and organisational skills are essential to the role. The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of HR policies and procedures, with up to date knowledge of employment law and best practice. An understanding of or experience working within a clinical/NHS environment would be useful, but is not essential.
Why Bolton Hospice?
You will be working within a friendly and committed team, with flexible working and some home working considered. We offer our employees generous annual leave (35 days a year including bank holidays, rising to 40 days with long service), a contributory stakeholder pension scheme, life assurance, membership of a healthcare cash plan and excellent training opportunities. We also offer continuity of service from the NHS with respect to pension and holiday allowance.
