Ramadan donations support Bolton Hospice

Donations from the local Muslim community, at the end of fasting in the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, have amounted to an incredible £8,873 (and counting!) for Bolton Hospice.

This Volunteers’ Week here at Bolton Hospice we are celebrating the impact of our volunteers across the hospice. Joan Anderson is one of our fantastic Bereavement Support volunteers, and has volunteered at the hospice since 2010.

Deb and Oliver's 'My Memories Walk' tribute

Deb Isherwood and her 8 year old son Oliver are taking part in this year's 'My Memories Walk' as a tribute to their late father/grandfather, Gerry Lunn. The 10,000 step virtual sponsored walk takes place on Saturday 19th June 2021.

Partnership with The Christie to provide lymphoedema clinic at our Wellbeing Hub

We have continued our successful partnership with specialist cancer centre, The Christie, to improve services for local patients with lymphoedema. A weekly clinic is now being held in the new facilities of our Wellbeing Hub to provide specialist outpatient care to people in Bolton and beyond.

Covid-19 Visitor Update

During the current outbreak of Covid-19 we have had to restrict access to the hospice building for family members and friends of patients on the Inpatient Unit to ensure that our patients, staff and volunteers working within the hospice are safe. These will continue to be reviewed on a regular basis and may change depending on the national and/or local infection rate and guidance.

Thoughts on 'Belonging' | Hospice Poet, Phil Isherwood

This Dying Matters Awareness Week, Bolton Hospice volunteer and Poet Phil Isherwood shares his new poem 'Belonging' written for the awareness week, his thoughts on the topic of belonging and what this means for our patients here at Bolton Hospice. 

Celebrating the life of Fatima

Hearing the personal stories of how our nurses have touched the lives of patients and their families is incredibly special to us. Dr Nayyar Naqvi kindly shared his family's story in loving memory of his mother-in-law Fatima. 

Dying Matters Awareness Week 2021

Helping your loved one to be in a good place to die is an incredibly difficult time, filled with difficult conversations - but this Dying Matters week we are touched to be able to share this story from a patient's husband, and his experience of the care our Hospice at Home team provided to his wife in the last months of her life.
