Our impact - 2025/26

From the very start of Bolton Hospice's story, our community has come together to make a difference.

Your support, whether through donating, fundraising, volunteering, campaigning or simply helping to raise awareness of our work makes everything we do possible. Together we are ensuring that the people of Bolton and their families can continue to access the compassionate care and support they deserve today and for years to come.

How your support helps

Julie's Story

Julie's husband, Stuart, was cared for at Bolton Hospice in 2025. Bolton Hospice became a safe environment, for both Stuart and his family. For Father’s Day, the hospice arranged support that allowed Stuart and his family to go on one final trip away together to North Wales and a 35th anniversary date night. Julie has since accessed Bolton Hospice's bereavement support services, which she has described as "invaluable whilst navigating the first year alone". On the first anniversary of his death, Julie embarked on a year of fundraising for Bolton Hospice.

Mel's Story

“Put me on the town hall steps and I’ll tell everyone: ‘If you’ve got a life-limiting illness get your backside to the Wellbeing Hub, I don’t know how you couldn’t like it!’”

Tony and Lyn's story

After 28 years of love, Tony and Lyn had their relationship blessed at Bolton Hospice.

Pauline and Ged's story

Pauline was admitted to Bolton Hospice in April 2026. After she died, Ged made it his mission to raise funds for Bolton Hospice in his Mum’s memory. "It’s a local hospice, for local people and it’s exactly where Mum wanted to be."

Our Funding

For every £1 we invested in income generation, we raised £2.33. However, the overall cost of delivering hospice care was £1.12 for every £1 received. Rising costs, increasing demand and below-inflation government funding are widening the funding gap, highlighting the urgent need for fairer, sustainable hospice funding to protect vital services for future generations.

How you can help

We need to raise over £5.5 million every year to provide our specialist services free of charge. We’re an independent charity and government funding only covers a fraction of our costs.

Make a Referral

There are several ways a referral can be made. This may be through a healthcare professional, via a GP, through self-referral, or on behalf of a friend or family member.
