Bolton Hospice Remembers and Celebrates on 80th Anniversary of VE Day
We joined the nation this week in proudly marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, with staff, volunteers, and patients coming together for a variety of commemorative activities.
Across the hospice grounds and in our local shops, the spirit of remembrance and celebration was evident. At our Wellbeing Hub, patients and family members enjoyed specially prepared, tasty afternoon teas and participated in patriotic sing-alongs.
Around the town, our charity shops also got into the spirit, creating vibrant red, white, and blue themed window displays to acknowledge the historic milestone.

A key moment of reflection took place as staff, volunteers, and patients observed the national two-minute silence. This poignant pause allowed everyone to remember and honour those who fought and made sacrifices during the Second World War to protect the freedoms enjoyed today.
The activities across the hospice ensured that the important 80th anniversary was marked with both respect and a shared sense of occasion.
