Stuart's Story

We love to make our patients feel as comfortable and at home as possible during their stay with us, and for many, nothing says "home" quite like a visit from a beloved pet.

We believe that maintaining these important connections is vital for a patient’s emotional well-being, and we are delighted to be able to welcome four-legged visitors to the hospice.

One of our patients, Stuart, was especially delighted to learn that he could have furry guests and enjoyed cuddles from various family members' and friends' dogs while he was staying with us.

"And another dog who successfully boosted my spirits today; Paddy, who belongs to my wonderful cousin and her family. Not just Paddy, we had a right laugh and they all boosted my mood.

"Dogs and visitors aside, Bolton Hospice is an amazing place. It is not just where people come right at the end of life but before then to bring quality of life with a terminal diagnosis.

"They have worked magic with my pain management and relief, so much so I got time out for good behaviour so me and my wife got to enjoy a great pub lunch near Chorley. Hopefully many more, we've made a list."
