The 'new' Newport Street
Any regular town centre shopper will recognise Bolton Hospice’s Newport Street charity shop by its friendly staff and volunteers, bargain prices and, until this week, its iconic blue walls…
Now, following a revamp of the charity’s most central shop, the bright blue had been replaced by a more stylish and modern off-white, and the hospice shops’ signature teal.
As well as a new colour scheme, the shop has also benefitted from a small extension, borrowing space from the behind-the-scenes sorting room to maximise space for shelves and rails on the shop floor.
The result is a lighter, brighter, and more polished look, still home to the same Bolton Hospice bargains its customers know and love.
At the shop’s grand reopening on Thursday, the Mayor of Bolton Councillor Mohammed Iqbal made a special appearance, helping with a ribbon cutting ceremony outside the store.
The first customers through the doors were treated to fresh pastries and exciting freebies with every purchase, while members of the hospice’s retail team were on hand to greet regular shoppers and thank them for their custom.
Whilst the shop has benefitted from a new, refreshed look, the low prices the Newport Street charity shop shoppers are familiar with haven’t gone anywhere.
Among the Bolton Hospice bargains available were brand-new-with-tags M&S shorts for just £4, a stunning Oasis floral dress for £5.50, stylish ‘White Fox’ branded joggers for £3, and Adidas short also for £3.
As well as women’s, men’s and kids’ clothes, the store also boasts toys, games, books, homeware and a range of bric-a-brac to suit any shoppers’ needs.
All purchases made at the charity shop will help Bolton Hospice to sustain its vital services and continue offering its compassionate care and support.
Open from 9.30am-4pm, Monday-Saturday.
