Furniture Collection & Delivery Operative
(6-12 month fixed term contract)
We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive Furniture Collection & Delivery Operative to assist in the collection and delivery of furniture and other items in relation to Bolton Hospice’s charity shops, as part of the Income Generation team.
Salary £15,667 per annum (WTE £26,111)
Part Time - 22.5 hours per week
(Flexibility required, including weekend working)
The Role:
This role supports the effective operation of Bolton Hospice’s collection and delivery service across retail locations. You will collect and distribute donated goods, deliver purchased furniture to customers, and support shop and warehouse operations as needed. The role requires excellent customer service, sensitivity when working with donors (including those experiencing bereavement), and strong teamwork with staff and volunteers. You will ensure vehicles, cash collections, and stock handling are managed safely and in line with hospice policies, health & safety requirements, and Gift Aid procedures, while working flexibly to meet the needs of the Retail and Income Generation teams.
What you need:
You’ll need a full, clean UK driving licence and experience driving a van, along with confidence in manual handling and physically demanding work. Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is experience dealing with the public and working effectively as part of a team. You should be self-motivated, able to use initiative, and committed to the vision and values of Bolton Hospice. Knowledge of safe manual handling practices is required, with experience in retail, working with volunteers, larger vans, Gift Aid, health & safety, or good local knowledge of the Bolton area being an advantage.
