Every year, Bolton Hospice provides specialist palliative and end‑of‑life care to more than 700 local people - care delivered with dignity, compassion and expertise. But right now, that care is under threat.
Government funding covers only a fraction of what it costs to run our hospice. To keep our doors open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, we must raise over £5.5 million of our £7 million annual running costs ourselves. After years of below‑inflation increases, rising costs and growing demand, the hospice sector is at breaking point.
That’s why we are launching Stand with Bolton Hospice - our fight for fairer funding.

Harry's Story
NHS retiree and DJ extraordinaire, Harry, and his family of wife Kathryn, four sons Nick, James, Tom and George, five grandchildren, and pet dog Betsy, recently experienced Bolton Hospice's specialist care and support on the inpatient unit.
Mini's Story
Mini is caring for her mum who suffered a severe stroke. They attend the Wellbeing Hub every Wednesday and have loved spending quality time together as mother and daughter again.
Joe's Story
Christina’s Grandpa Joe was the heartbeat of her family. A strong and independent man, Joe’s need to be admitted to the hospice came as a shock to the family, but Bolton Hospice helped to ensure “he kept his pride and sense of strength right to the end”.
Harry, Mini and Joe's stories represent only a tiny handful of the hundreds of local people we support each year.
