Schools and nurseries across Bolton have raised an incredible amount of over £32,000 during December to fund the care given to patients and their families at Bolton Hospice on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

When volunteer Tom responded to an advert he’d seen on the hospice Facebook page, he had no idea how much it would change his life.  Read his inspirational story here.

Husband and Wife Kate and John Greenhalgh, run A Year of Dates - an online firm selling boxes of envelopes containing 12 months of dating ideas, encouraging couples to try new experiences and create memories together. This year they have decided to follow their own advice, and have signed up to our 12 week Strictly Learn to Dance challenge.

Bolton Freemasons kindly donated a new supply of teddies to Bolton Hospice through ‘The Teddies for Loving Care’ initiative, which provides unique cuddly bears to Accident & Emergency departments and hospices for medical staff to give to young children.

Companies across Bolton have been busy taking part in a range of fundraising activities as part of our Workplace Raise-a-thon.  Since the start of October, the 17 businesses who have joined the campaign so far have collectively raised over £14,619!

Yvonne Weatherhead MBE has been writing children’s books for many years.  This Christmas she has released another of her popular ‘Flying Grandma’ poems, with all funds raised in support of Bolton Hospice.

Dr Jenny Klimiuk, Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Bolton Hospice, has had her research on the Lourdes pilgrimage and its impact on quality of life published in a renowned international journal.

The hospice recently received an incredible surprise thanks to Corin and Tricia Dalby from Box Power, and their kind donation to support the care we provide to local people and their loves ones.

Saturday 6th December saw the long awaited Bolton Hospice Strictly Learn to Dance Finale return to the Bolton Whites Hotel, with 11 couples competing and stepping into the spotlight to show their dance training; taken on to help raise vital funds for the hospice!
